Compliance Manufacturing:Protecting Consumer Rights
According to Qimai QIMA's statistical analysis of the unqualified items in China's market supervision and sampling, punching jackets, towels, shirts, pants, T-shirts and tops are the categories of textiles with the most quality problems. Take the T-shirt frequently purchased by consumers as an example, the problems are concentrated in quick-drying performance, ultraviolet protection, water-absorbent performance, water penetration and diffusion time, core suction height and hydrostatic pressure.
Among textiles, consumers are particularly concerned about the quality of children's and infants' clothing. According to the 2021 mid-year State Administration of Market Supervision on the online sale of children's and infants' clothing products sampling, the test of 159 batches of products, 26 batches of products failed, batch failure found rate of 16.4%, unqualified items related to the fiber content, color fastness to wet friction, color fastness to dry friction, color fastness to water, rope and belt requirements, accessory tensile strength.
For the regulation of textile products, China's regulatory standards are categorized into government standards and market standards, with government standards consisting of mandatory standards (GB), which are mandatory for all textile products, and mandatory standards based on specific products, the latter of which are such as recommended product-specific standards (GB/T), textile industry standards (FZ/T), and local standards.
GB 18401-2010 "National Technical Code for Basic Safety of Textile Products" applies to textile products produced and sold in China for use, decoration and household use, and stipulates the basic safety technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, as well as the implementation and supervision of textile products. Textile products worn or used by infants and children aged 14 and under sold in China must comply with the requirements of GB 31701-2015 "Technical Code for Safety of Textile Products for Infants and Children". Based on GB 18401, the standard has stricter and more detailed regulations on chemical safety indicators, mechanical safety indicators, textile accessories and sharpness indicators. For example,:adds 6 kinds of phthalate esters and total lead, cadmium and 2 kinds of heavy metal limit requirements.
QIMA experts remind textile manufacturers to pay attention to the safety technical details required in the regulatory standards, and in the case of textiles for infants, toddlers and children, to avoid safety hazards that may result from novel designs.
